Finding the Perfect Pair of Eyeglasses in Richardson, TX
Finding the right pair of eyeglasses is more involved than simply getting your eyes examined. There are multiple things to consider such as frame type, lenses, and the upgrades available. Not only must eyeglasses be functional, but they are also a reflection of your personal style.
Choosing the Lenses
There are four main types of lenses for prescription eyeglasses: single vision, bifocals, trifocals, and progressives. With single vision glasses, only one prescription is ground in. No matter which part of the lens you look through, these glasses provide clear vision at a single distance. Bifocals and trifocals have lenses that are ground with different prescriptions in different parts of the lenses. These work well for people who can no longer function comfortably with single vision lenses and need multiple powers for different distances. Progressive lenses are similar, but they provide clear vision across a range of distances with no hard breaks between them.
Upgrades to Consider
Today's eyeglass lenses come with many possible upgrades. Consider an anti-scratch coating if your glasses tend to end up with many fine scratches on them. Try an anti-glare coating if you have trouble driving at night or seeing in other high glare situations. Consider a blue-blocking anti-glare coating to protect your eyes from harmful blue light emitted by computer screens. Add a tint to make sunglasses or consider photochromic lenses that darken with UV exposure. Be sure to ask your Richardson optometrist about these and other possibilities.
There are seemingly infinite choices of frames, and for the most part, you can just choose the ones that look best on your face. That said, it's a good idea to pay some attention to the practical attributes of the frames as well. For example, if you're into physical activity, it's a good idea to get tougher frames then if you sit in an office or other challenging environments. Fortunately, sports frames can be very stylish.
